So this year I wasn’t able to make it out of town for a lot of the larger “nerd” conferences but luckily Wizard World made another appearance in my town. This was the third year that the con made an appearance in St. Louis and the second year I was able to attend. It was not as huge as it was last year but it was still a great time. I really enjoy gatherings of people who have similar interests (especially when it has to do with nerd culture).
I am not as into comics as I once was but they still hold a special place in my heart. The art and the energy at Wizard World St. Louis was amazing. I was able to meet a lot of great artists and individuals. I saw some amazing cosplay that ranged from TV shows, to video games to comics. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to capture every single amazing costume but there are some of my favorites shown below. There were a lot of great moments this year. My personal favorite moment was getting a chance to meet Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario! Not sure if this was a good thing but the line for him wasn’t long. I don’t think many people knows what he looks like in real life. This made for an easy and quick autograph/picture opportunity.
I expected Saturday to be as packed as it was last year but there were a few things that stood in the way. One, it was a holiday weekend. Two, there were two other Wizard World cons that were going on that same weekend that were relatively close to St. Louis. Even with that, the event was great. I am sure that the same thing won’t happen next year. I believe they signed a five year contract, so I will definately be in attendance next year.
