In a talk with IGN, Respawn’s community manager Abbie Heppe shed some light on what we can expect to see in future Titanfall DLC’s.
While we already know that there will be a mix of paid and free DLC, when asked if future DLC’s will feature more of the monsters and fauna that we saw in the Titanfall art book, Heppe gave us some insight, saying “We are going to have maps added, and we’re trying to give players as much of a varied look at things as we can so that is definitely a possibility.”
Also questioned was whether or not we will see some new variations of Titans in the game, which was sadly shot down for the time being. Heppe said that it’s most likely that the Atlas, Ogre and Stryder will be the only options for the foreseeable future, and interestingly enough, there was only supposed to be one titan to choose from. In the interview, she explains “In order to [add a Titan] it takes so much balancing to make all the Titan abilities work with each other, and then against pilots. It’s a huge undertaking. Originally we just had the Atlas titans and then the team refused to add in the rest of the Titans until we were all sure that that one fitted perfectly with everything else in the game, so… I’m not announcing any new Titans right now!”
Although Titanfall has been well received by nearly everyone (I love it), one main criticism has been the odd attempt at incorporating a single player-esque storyline into the multiplayer, via small skirmish like games. Although Heppe acknowledged the original criticism, she is confident things can only improve, “We’re always looking towards iterating and what’s next and what we can learn,” she said, “So would we do everything exactly the same way? I don’t think any game developer ever would tell you yes. I think we’re always looking at going bigger and better so we’ll see what happens in the future.”
