Today, Nintendo has released a new character reveal trailer for their highly anticipated party fighter, Super Smash Bros. Three characters have been added to the game’s roster: Lucina, Captain Falcon, and Robin.  Lucina and Robin are both coming from Nintendo’s blockbuster 3DS game, Fire Emblem: Awakening — while Captain Falcon is a returning character mostly known from the F-Zero series.  It appears as though that Fire Emblem is going to have an immense presence in the latest Smash Bros. iteration — bolstering four characters from the franchise so far: Marth, Ike, Robin, and Lucina.

Take a peek at the exhilarating trailer below:

The trailer was very Fire Emblem centric — featuring five characters from the acclaimed series: Chrom, Lucina, Robin, Marth, and Ike. There were also several of references towards the franchise, for example: Robin’s “tomes’ have a limited amount of uses before he has to exchange it for another, just like how every weapon in Fire Emblem: Awakening has a limited amount of uses before it breaks. Robin and Lucia also refer to Marth as the “the hero king” and Ike as “the radiant hero of legend” — as they did when the characters were mentioned in Fire Emblem: Awakening, which further proves that all of the Fire Emblem games take place in the same universe.

Chrom unfortunately won’t be playable, he will just be a part of Robin’s Final Smash, to demonstrate the team chemistry mechanic that was prevalent in Fire Emblem: Awakening.  Also worth mentioning is that the name Robin is now Fire Emblem: Awakening‘s customizable main character’s official name. As another nod to the customizable options in the 3DS game, Robin can be either selected as male or female.

The roster for Super Smash Bros. looks to be the franchise’s biggest yet. What Nintendo character do you want to see added to the impressive roster?
