The English voices for Studio Ghibli’s latest animated film, Tale of the Princess Kaguya, has finally been casted. Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-AssIf I stay) will star as the title character for the English dubbed version of the animated film. Also dubbing voices for the film are: James Caan, Mary Steenburgen, Darren Criss, Lucy Liu, Beau Bridges, James Marsden, Oliver Platt and Dean Cain. Also announced with the English voice cast is the release date for the film. The film is due to release in North America on October 17th to “maximize awards-season play.”

Ghibli’s Tale of the Princess Kaguya, is based off of a 10th century Japanese folktale titled, Taketori Monogatari (The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter). The film details the life of Kaguya, a child found within a glowing bamboo plant by an old bamboo cutter, and is raised by him and his wife.

Tale of the Princess Kaguya abandons Ghibli’s customary art style, for a more traditional sumi-e (Japanese ink painting) style. Check out the beautiful art style in motion in the trailer below:
