The good folks over at Steam have stuck to their guns, Steam OS is now available to dowload (if you can) right now. The Linux based OS is almost 1 GB (960MB to be exact) to download and it will take some Linux skills to get it working properly. The Steam OS is what will be powering Steam’s upcoming gaming platform and 300 lucky beta testers will be getting a test unit to to take it for a ride.

The process is not easy to install but Steam has released a step-by-step FAQ to help you getting the OS up and runnning. This is something that is really only for the die-hard/computer savvy fans that want to check out the OS.
