It looks like a new version of the Xbox One controller will be hitting the markets soon. According to documents posted on the Micrsoft support site, there will be a 3.5mm headphone jack added to the controller. Not much more information was given. We are not yet sure if the new jack will allow voice chat or volume controls. Other than that, there is nothing crazy about this change. Microsoft initially put a lot of work into the design of the hardware so I wouldn’t expect much more than this small change. I am not sure how chat and volume will be handled without the adapter. In my opinion, it would be a little wonky using the UI. There are rumblings that this change will come in June so I guess we will hear more at E3.
