Cops, supernatural beings, and comic adaptations, oh my! The first footage for PlayStation’s Powers, Sony Picture Television’s dramatic new series, was recently released to New York Comic Con panel goers, and with it comes the promise of a gritty and visceral adaptation of the long-running Image — and Marvel thereafter  — graphic novel.

The video takes fans on a small ride through the elaborate set, and showcases the dark tone of the much-anticipated series. Powers follows the lives of Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), two homicide detectives thrust into a world of the extraordinary as they investigate cases of superhumans, referred to as “Powers.” Walker, a hero with lost powers, must learn to cope with the loss of what seemingly made him great. The series, executive produced by Powers co-creators Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, also stars Noah Taylor, Olesya Rulin, Logan Browning, and stage legend Eddie Izzard.

Take a gander at the exclusive footage below:

Debuting this winter, Powers will be available to download and stream on any PlayStation platform. Members who take advantage of a PlayStation Plus membership will be able to view Powers in its entirety for free, as well as obtain exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. Of course, those who don’t have PlayStation Plus have reason to rejoice! Episode one of Powers will be made free for everyone upon its premiere.
