A preview for the highly anticipated anime adaption for the popular 90’s horror manga, Parasyte (also known as Kiseijū, in Japanese), has surfaced on the web. Take a look at it below:

Parasyte centers around a 17-year-old boy named Shinichi Izumi, he lives in a quiet neighborhood with his parents in Tokyo. One night, Earth is invaded by parasitic worm-like aliens called Parasites, who control human brains by burrowing into their human host’s body via their ears or nose. Parasites that have found a host body will devour uninhabited humans as food.  One of these aliens tries to take control of the main character, Shinichi’s body, but is thwarted due to Shinichi wearing headphones over his ears, which causes the alien to burrow into his arm instead. Since the alien entered Shinichi’s body through his right arm, it doesn’t have control over his brain, and both beings are able to retain their intellect and personality. The alien adopts the name “Migi” (which is the Japanese word for right). The pair reluctantly and gradually form a strong bond with one another, by surviving frequent attacks from other Parasites that realize that Shinichi’s human brain remains intact. Their bond gives them an edge in battle against other Parasites.

Kenichi Shimizu ( who directed: Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher) will direct the series at Studio MADHOUSE, right alongside Shoji Yonemura (Kamen Rider Kabuto, Smile Precure) who is the head of composition. Tadashi Hiramatsu (His and Her Circumstances) serves as the character designer, while Toshiyuki Komaru will be the chief animation director.

The animation and art for Parasyte is superb — check it out below:
