Metal Gear mastermind Hideo Kojima revealed that he would like to see an open-world remake of the original Metal Gear Solid.
In an interview with Japanese publication Famitsu (via Dualshockers) at the Tapei Game Show, Solid Snake’s creator expressed his desire to see Shadow Moses re-imagined on new-gen systems in a open world style.
Kojima says he would love to do it, but hasn’t the time to work on it with all his energy being dedicated to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain. Kojima said he’s open to pitches from developers, but no one has yet to step forward.
Metal Gear Solid has already had one cherished remake, 2004’s Gamecube exclusive Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. The game was not open-world, but did feature Metal Gear Solid 2’s first person camera and a fresh coat of beautiful Gamecube-era graphics. Until Kojima’s dream comes true, get your original MGS on with the Déjà Vu DLC pack, starring classic PS1-era Solid Snake.
