Adult Swim’s (an American television network paired with Cartoon Network) Saturday anime block, Toonami, has added the insanely popular mecha anime, Gurren Lagann to its lineup. On Saturday, Toonami revealed that Gurren Lagann would be added to the lineup via their tumblr Q&A segment. Gurren Lagann is set to premiere on Saturday, August 16th at 2:00 am ET/PT.

Wikipedia describes the anime’s story:

Gurren Lagann takes place in a fictional future where Earth is ruled by the Spiral King, Lordgenome, who forces mankind to live in isolated subterranean villages. The plot focuses on two teenagers living in a subterranean village, Simon and Kamina, who wish to go to the surface. Using a mecha known as Lagann, Simon and Kamina reach the surface and start fighting alongside other humans against Lordgenome’s forces.

Be sure to tune in to Toonami on August 16th, because this is one anime you will not forgive yourself for missing.

    YES. ALL THE YES.

This is proper move on Toonami’s part. Gurren Lagann is a pretty underrated anime, so I’m glad it’s getting some attention once again.
