The ever-elusive teaser trailer for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot has hit the internet. Get your first look at the latest adaptation of Marvel’s First Family here:
Helmed by Chronicle director Josh Trank, the film features an all new cast, skewing mostly younger than the previous (and best forgotten) Fantastic 4 films. Featuring Miles Teller as Reed Richards, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm. The official synopsis is as follows:
Fantastic Four, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
The film has been rumored to have a troubled production and fan reaction to the younger cast and massive character changes (especially in regards to Dr.Doom) have been very negative. The trailer seems to strike a more serious and gritty tone in comparison to the comic books, but hopefully the movie pans out well. Josh Trank is a more than capable director, and the ensemble cast have each shown their skills in impressive roles.
The film is set to hit theaters August 7, 2015. Here’s hoping it’s worthy of it’s namesake.
