Bungie community manager DeeJ posted on the official site, stating “[Destiny] has always represented a new beginning for our team. It was born from brave possibilities. We dreamed of a renewed and independent Bungie. We found partners willing to bet big on some crazy new ideas with us.”

After a less-than-amiacable split from Microsoft in 2007, it was unclear whether or not the developer would rebound with a long-term plan. Well, all is looking well for famed Halo developer as they now push their focus to their newest and most innovative title yet. Destiny is a first-person RPG set in a futuristic and mythical science fiction world — an open world, that is. It’s set 700 years into a post-acocalyptic future. The human race, once spread across the colonized solar system in hopes of surviving the “Golden Age,” is now nothing more than a dwindling colony on Earth, and a mysterious floating sphere known as “The Traveller” is humanity’s last hope. With the appearance of a strange and hostile alien race, it’s up to a guardian to save the last remaining pieces of humanity.

The beta for Destiny will become available as early as summer 2014, and it will first be available for Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 users. In order to be eligible for the beta, gamers must pre-order from any video game outlet available.

Destiny will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 on September 9th, 2014.
