Rumors have been buzzing around the industry today that Microsoft is planning to make a rebuttal by announcing the next Xbox this April. An image of a domain registration surfaced on Neogaf, clearly showing the same company that hosted the Xbox E3 presentation, registering the Xboxevent.com domain. Here’s a view of the image for “WHOIS”.
The most interesting observation about U.S. Tech’s registration, is the naming of the domain. For last year’s E3, they registered XBOXE312.com; an obvious E3 domain which expires next month. Whether the plan is to use XBOXEVENT.com as this year’s E3 domain or if this domain is for a separate event remains to be see. But judging by much of the inside talk being heard, this is definitely a separate keynote in which Microsoft is going to strike back, with XBOXE313 being their E3 domain.
It’d make a lot of sense for Microsoft to not let Sony get too comfortable with the hype they’ve stirred and to blast back viciously. Going by the book and waiting until E3 doesn’t seem like the best idea, especially when the chances of information leaking out up to then is high to definite. More on this development as we collect intel!
